Gideon Chickos is a dancer, actor and singer based out of New York City and originally from Durham, North Carolina. He began performing at an early age in local children's theatre, doing plays and musicals in addition to regular dance classes and piano lessons. In 2011, he began performing with Opera House Theatre Company in Wilmington, NC, doing shows such as: Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Hello Dolly, The Most Happy Fella, She Loves Me, Les Miserables, Oklahoma, and more.
In 2017, he graduated from Cap21’s 2-year musical theatre training program in downtown Manhattan. Some of his mentors and teachers include: Lori Leshner, Lloyd Culbreath, Chase Brock, Justin Boccitto, Ryan Jackson, David Hibbard, Randy Redd, Todd Alsup, Larry Arancio, Aimee Francis, Sean Dougherty, James Dobinson and Marshall Keating. While in school, he played the role of Doc in Crimes of the Heart, as well as Wade ‘Cry-Baby’ Walker in their main-stage production of Cry-Baby.
Since graduating, he’s been performing professionally in shows around the country, including: Really Rosie, The Music Man, West Side Story (Weston Playhouse), A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live On Stage! (National tour), and Mamma Mia! (Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre). In 2018, he had the opportunity to perform in Tokyo, Japan, where he understudied and went on for the role of Don Kerr in A Chorus Line (Big League Productions), directed by original cast member Baayork Lee. More recently, he was seen on the national tour of Monty Python's Spamalot (Phoenix Entertainment) understudying the role of Sir Robin, and made his professional return to Opera House Theatre Company to play the role of Older Billy in the Wilmington premiere of Billy Elliot.
Most recently, Gideon performed in the 6-Time Tony Award winning musical Kinky Boots (Prather Productions) at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center and Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Ft Myers, FL.
