Alex Korolkovas was born in 1969, in São Caetano do Sul (São Paulo - Brazil) and studied Advertising at the Methodist University of São Paulo. In 1992, At the beginning of his career as a photographer, he moved to California, where he lived for ten years. There, Korolkovas studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and worked as an assistant to photographers such as Earl Miller - renowned in American erotic photography.
In 2004 he was among the Top 10 fashion creatives in a contest held by Casa de Criadores and in 2006 he was nominated for the Abril Prize of Journalism in "photo essay" category due to his work for VIP Magazine. Alex moved again to the US in 2016, where he won the Visual Press Awards in Florida - in The Fine Art Photography category. Also in 2016, he held in Wynwood, Miami. The Korolkovas' Valentina exhibition, a tribute to the 50 years of Guido Crepax's erotic comics with 14 images in methacrylate, a video art projection based on the model Barbara Nogueira and the Brazilian television celebrity Adriana Moura's photographic essay characterized as Valentina, captured by Alex Korolkovas' passionate look for the character. This Exhibition earned him another Visual Press Awards early in 2017, this time for Best Solo Exhibit.
In fashion, Alex photographed for the best Brazilian designers, Jorge Bischoff, Reinaldo Lourenço, Glória Coelho, Pedro Lourenço, Cavalera to name a few. He currently collaborates with Brazilian magazines such as TRIP, VIP, MIXMAG, INKED, BRIDESTYLE, SEXY, LOUNGE, VOGUE, as well as international publications such as Stern (Germany), NERVE (NY/USA) and DP Photographer, and lives in NY with his wife Mariana.
